Envelope Styles

Here are some frequently requested styles, and I'd love to talk to you about how we can customize your event. Order a sample and you can see what it's like in person. Click on an envelope below to see more examples and color combinations.

It is important that you get me your envelopes a minimum of 8 weeks before your event so that I have 2 weeks to work on them and you can get them mailed 6 weeks prior...more time is necessary for large quantities, as this is all done by hand. A rough guideline is that I can do 100 envelopes in two weeks. Time on the calendar books quickly, -- especially during the busy wedding season, so please contact me with your dates, quantities and specifics.

If you'd like me to supply you with a set of vintage postage stamps, it is important that I have as much notice as possible to procure a quantity.

Calligraphy is highly custom in nature and many variables will determine price. Please contact me for a detailed quote.

A deposit of 50% is required before I start to book the time on my calendar, with balance due upon completion. Please supply a 15% overage of envelopes for last-minute changes, errors or ink splotches (for example, if you want 100 envelopes addressed, provide 115 envelopes. If you want 200 done, provide 230 envelopes, etc.). All extra envelopes will be returned to you when the job is finished.

If you contact me for a quote or to book time on the schedule, this is the information I will need.

1. The date you want the work finished and returned to you as well as the date you will have everything ready
for me (the invitations back from the printer, the finished guest address list)

2. Services required (outer envelopes, inner envelopes, place cards, etc.), with quantities

3. Lettering style, Ink Color and any upgrades mentioned below

4. Any samples you have of your own wedding pieces or inspiration you've collected, what you'd like it to look like. If you don't have this, it's fine! But if you do have something pretty specific in mind, I'd love to see it!

Here are some basic pricing guidelines:

Envelope Lettering:

Outer envelope (Recipient address only) – $4.00, base price, 3 line address.  Additional lines will be $.50 per line.  Please take note of this for envelopes addressed to an entire family and/or international addresses. The maximum number of lines that can fit with postage is six, and fewer lines will look better in general.

Inner envelope – $1.50, base price.

Return Address: $2.50 per envelope. A good, often less-expensive alternative is a custom-designed rubber stamp with your return address. I can create that for you in the same style as the calligraphy on the front.

Additional Fees for Upgrades Include:

-Centered Lettering: 50¢ per envelope.

Lettering at an angle: add 25¢ per envelope

-Custom color ink (anything that’s not black or white). I can custom match any color and write in metallic ink. Please provide me with a swatch or a physical sample of what you are trying to match.

What to Send Me

In order to make as few mistakes as possible, please provide the list as a typed (not handwritten) list, or in file format as a PDF, Word or Excel file. Please send the list of names and addresses EXACTLY as you would like it be written. It is helpful but not crucial to number each entry so that I can easily more ask you a question if it comes up. Common abbreviations such as St. for Street, Apt. for Apartment, and State Names will be written out unless space does not allow.

Here are a couple of good envelope etiquette guides for reference.

Note: If you do not know the zip code for an address you have, you can search for it at www.usps.com.
